Carl Hurtin

Carl HURTIN, through numerous media and collaborations with musicians undertakes a critical research upon the individual’s autonomy towards mass consumption, should it be of goods, ideas or religions. What he says about the « Caddie » (trolley) during an exhibition/performance at the BBB in Toulouse, « Accident de Caddie » : “As Paul Virilio submits it, each human creation includes its potential of danger, the trolley though does not seem to be endowed with it. Machines, mechanisms and all demiurgies of earth are thought out in their finitude, evaluated in their entropy. I suggest, while staging the breaking up of the movement of a trolley’s fall, that this instrument of mass consumption does not escape it. This phenomogical study represents a formal entrance to an umpteenth but still possible critics of the alienation to a merchant system.
